Clik here to view. In Jill Shalvis’ new romance series Cedar Ridge, heroine Lily Danville shines with humor and heart in SECOND CHANCE SUMMER. Find out how Shalvis’ Lily channels the lovable legend of I Love Lucy.
The first book in my new Cedar Ridge series features Aidan Kincaid: firefighter, search and rescue expert, and absolute heartbreaker. He’s the last guy on earth you’d want to embarrass yourself in front of. You can see his sexy smirk now, right?

Clik here to view.Let’s face it, we’ve all been there—that moment that makes you wish you could rewind time and be a little more graceful, more clever, or at the very least not have a complete “I Love Lucy” moment. Unfortunately, in SECOND CHANCE SUMMER Lily has quite a few of those “Lucy” moments in front of Aidan, including:
- When she runs outside in her skimpy pjs to grab some wood to start a fire and plows directly into Aidan. She runs up the stairs back inside before she remembered that her pjs have “kiss it” across her butt.
- When Lily buys the local convenience store out of junk food and the cashier guy asks her if she’s high, or just been dumped.
- When she sees sexy Aidan for the first time in ten years and backs into a display in the store trying to get away. Stealth, she is not.
- When she thinks about maybe running the smug Aidan over and he just smiles at her, knowing she won’t do it because, dammit, she likes him too much.
- When he realizes that she loves him before SHE realizes she loves him, mostly because she hates when he’s right…

Ever get into your car to go somewhere and realize you’re wearing two different shoes? No? Sigh. I had a feeling it was just me. The problem is, I stepped into the garage with my hands full, and just slipped on my flip-flops without looking.
Yeah. I don’t recommend that.
I got all the way to the library before I realized. Or correction, a cute little five-year-old standing next to me at the check-out realized for me. “Hey, your shoes don’t match. One’s green and white, and the other is bright red.”
Huh. Look at that.
From there I had to run into the grocery store (because the people in my house actually think I should feed them every day). At that check out, it was an older woman who looked down at my feet in confusion. “Honey, are your shoes mis-matched, or did I pick up my husband’s glasses again?”
Tempted to tell her she’d grabbed the wrong glasses, my youngest piped in. “Nah. She’s just on deadline. Her shoes never match when she’s on deadline.”
Thanks, baby.
So how about you? What’s your favorite “Lucy” episode or moment from your own life?
